Gio, going by the name “Bluejay”, melds electric disco, neo-soul, and jazz into a genre-fluid sound. A Seattle-based multi-instrumentalist drawing on musical influences from the likes of Tom Misch and FKJ, he dances on stage from vocals to guitar, from keys to bass, looping together head-bopping rhythms and funky bass lines with cascading guitar runs and colorful synths. Off stage, trained as a sound engineer and ecologist, he draws inspiration from natural soundscapes and birdsong, and collects field recordings that bring an organic texture to his music.

His solo project Bluejay began with the debut single “Window Watching” in 2020, featured by The Jazz Hop Café. A string of inspired releases have followed since, with the “Pedals and Nettles” receiving praise by The Sound You Need, and solidifying a unique brand of sound that has led fans to remark, “that sounds like a Bluejay.”

Gio has opened for Flume, AlunaGeorge, and Kaytranada at Frost Amphitheater in Stanford, California. This summer will mark his first festival billing as Bluejay at the Cascade Equinox Festival in Redmond, WA.
